Welcome to the home page of the Sons and Friends of the Clergy, the leading grant-making charity helping Anglican clergy and their families in times of need.

The Sons of the Clergy was founded in 1655 in response to the desperate plight of clergy who had suffered under Cromwell. The roots of the Friends of the Clergy, meanwhile, lie deep in the nineteenth century. See History for the full story.

The role of the charity today is to help clergy of the Anglican Communion and their families in times of financial necessity or distress. If you or anyone you know is in need of help or support please see Grants for more information on how to apply.

Our income is derived entirely from voluntary sources (including donations and legacies) and we urgently need help to maintain and expand our outreach. If you may possibly be able to help, please go to Support Us for information on how to donate and make an immediate difference.

Please see About Us for more information on the charities or Contacts for information about who to speak to.

The charity is registered with the Charity Commission in England and Wales, registered number 207736.
